Mark Allen v Ali Carter live stream | Masters 2024 Semi-Final preview
Mark Allen and Ali Carter go head to head on Saturday for the right to play Ronnie O’Sullivan in this year’s Masters final.
O’Sullivan is the first man through to Sunday’s showpiece following his 6-2 victory over Shaun Murphy earlier today, but who will he face at Alexandra Palace?
Well, both players have certainly staked their claim this week with a pair of hard-earned victories against multiple winners apiece.
Allen has come through deciding frames against John Higgins and Mark Selby, while Carter battled past Mark Williams 6-4 before dethroning reigning champion Judd Trump 6-5.
This is already the fourth meeting between the players this season. While the Captain prevailed in the Wuhan Open quarter-finals, the Pistol gained revenge at the same stage of the Champion of Champions – which he went on to win – as well as the Shoot Out final.
Allen raised the roof at Alexandra Palace on Friday night with the second maximum break of the week, before recovering from 4-1 down and holding himself together in a tense decider.
The 2018 champion, who arrived this year having failed to win a match at the Masters since lifting the trophy, is now set for his fourth semi-final, having also reached this stage in 2011 and 2015.
As for Carter, this will be the 2020 runner-up’s second successive appearance in the last four.
Back at the event for the first time since narrowly missing out on the title to Stuart Bingham, the Captain has certainly made up for lost time by demonstrating his trademark battling qualities to overcome Williams and Trump.
The five-time ranking event winner has enjoyed a timely upturn in form at the Masters, where he won just three matches in his first 11 appearances prior to 2020.
Both players are six frames away from reaching their second final, and booking a date with O’Sullivan.
Play gets under way at 7pm GMT on Saturday and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at Alexandra Palace.
