Defending champion Ronnie O’Sullivan has been drawn to face rival John Higgins in the opening round of the 2025 Masters.

O’Sullivan will launch his quest for a record-extending ninth Masters title with a box office clash against Higgins at London’s Alexandra Palace.

The fixture signals a repeat of the 2005 and 2006 Masters finals, which saw the duo claim a victory apiece at the Wembley Conference Centre.

The sport’s most prestigious invitational tournament will take place from January 12-19 and features the world’s top 16 ranked players following the UK Championship.

The draw took place during the UK Championship final between Judd Trump and Barry Hawkins, and the pair will face off against in Round One next month.

Reigning World Champion Kyren Wilson will take on Players Championship runner-up Zhang Anda, while two-time Masters champion Mark Williams will face 2011 champion Ding Junhui.

Three-time champion Mark Selby comes up against last year’s runner-up Ali Carter, while 2018 champion Mark Allen meets debutant Si Jiahui.

Former World Champion Luca Brecel faces another debutant in Chris Wakelin, while 2015 champion Shaun Murphy takes on three-time ranking event winner Gary Wilson.

The full schedule of play will be confirmed in due course.
