Judd Trump looks to maintain his dominant recent record against Ding Junhui when they collide in the Masters quarter-finals on Friday.
Two former Masters champions go head to head in the third of the Last Eight ties at the Alexandra Palace.
The mouth-watering fixture is one that has been dominated by Trump in recent times. Indeed, the Ace has prevailed in five of their last six meetings, most recently a 4-0 whitewash in this season’s Champion of Champions.
Although, the pair have shared their six previous encounters at Triple Crown events, with Ding a 6-4 winner in their latest such clash in the 2023 UK Championship semi-finals.
Trump is aiming to reach his seventh Masters semi-final and remain on course to claim his third title, having lifted the Paul Hunter trophy in 2019 and 2023.
The world number one made a purposeful start to his quest against fellow left-hander Barry Hawkins, with breaks of 126, 108 and 93 helping him inflict a commanding 6-1 rout.
Meanwhile, Ding went right down to the wire against Mark Williams in the opening round.
The 2011 champion appeared set for a fourth straight first round exit from the Masters at 5-4 down, but turned it on when it mattered with breaks of 76 and 90 in the last two frames snatching a 6-5 victory.
Ding now has his eyes on securing what would only be a fourth semi-final spot in 19 appearances at snooker’s most prestigious invitational event, and first since 2019.
Awaiting the winner of this clash in the semi-finals is one of the two most recent World champions in Kyren Wilson or Luca Brecel.
The match breaks off at 1pm GMT on Friday and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at Alexandra Palace.
