Kyren Wilson and John Higgins will contest a mouth-watering 2026 Masters final at Alexandra Palace on Sunday.

Three will be the magic number for one of the players, as the second Triple Crown of the season reaches a dramatic climax.

Indeed, Higgins will either lift his third Masters title, or Wilson will make it third time lucky having already lost in two finals.

Both players have come through successive deciding-frame finishes in their quarter and semi-final showdowns, and neutrals will hope this blockbuster showpiece also goes down to the wire.

Aged 50 years and 245 days, Higgins is the oldest Triple Crown finalist in snooker history, as he looks to claim his 10th such silverware 15 years after his last.

The Scotsman appeared down and out at 5-3 down against Zhao Xintong and Judd Trump, but produced trademark fightbacks in both to prevail a 6-5 winner and book his place in a sixth Masters final.

He now looks to become the seventh player to win the Masters three times, 20 years after his most recent triumph courtesy of that iconic 64 counter clearance to stun Ronnie O’Sullivan in the last final to be played at Wembley Conference Centre.

Higgins has won six of his last seven meetings with Wilson, excluding the Championship League, though the Warrior’s sole success came on his way to winning the 2024 World Championship.

The world number two is now bidding to complete part two of a career Triple Crown, and add his name to the Masters’ illustrious roll of honour.

A beaten finalist against Mark Allen in 2018, Wilson also fell at the final hurdle against an inspired Shaun Murphy 12 months ago.

He now looks to avoid becoming only the second player after John Parrott to appear in three Masters finals without ever lifting the trophy.

The Warrior has demonstrated his trademark determination to fashion another opportunity. He trailed 5-4 against Neil Robertson and Wu Yize, but produced timely clearances in the penultimate frame of both matches, before prevailing in deciders.

Can he get over the line at the third attempt, or will Higgins’ will to complete a hat-trick just prove too strong?

We are set for a thrilling finale over the best of 19 frames at Alexandra Palace on Sunday, with the Paul Hunter trophy and top prize of £350,000 at stake.

The final gets under way from 1pm GMT with the opening eight frames, before being played to a finish from 7pm with a maximum of 11.
