Zhao claimed his first silverware as the World champion

Zhao Xintong was the crowned the winner of the 2025 Riyadh Season Snooker Championship, after beating Neil Robertson 5-2 in the final.

The World champion was the last man standing on Friday at the Global Theatre in Boulevard City, where he landed his title since triumphing at the Crucible six months ago.

Zhao hit back-to-back centuries on the way to scooping the bumper top prize of ยฃ250,000, while joining Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Allen on the lucrative event’s roll of honour.

The Cyclone also added his name to this season’s roll of honour, maintaining the record of all 11 tournaments being won by different players.

“I feel so happy, it’s amazing to win this title,” Zhao said. “I was nervous, but I just tried to concentrate on the table.

“It’s my first time in Riyadh, so I will have a lot of good memories here, and I look forward to coming back.

“Lots of people from China were here, they gave me huge support and that was so important to me. My only target now is just to keep getting better.”

The first two frames were shared in the battle for the title between the two most recent overseas World champions.

Saudi Arabia Masters champion Robertson, who had dropped just a single frame on route to the final, was aiming to complete a double in the Kingdom, and built a 48-0 lead during a lengthy third frame.

However, Zhao fought back to eventually go 2-1 ahead on the colours, while a superb 131 clearance made it 3-1 at the mid-session interval.

The Cyclone made it back-to-back centuries on the resumption with a wonderful clearance of 134, which moved him to the brink of victory.

Robertson rallied with a timely 91 to keep his hopes alive, but could not convert a contribution of 36 in the following frame, and a run of 57 was enough to secure Zhao’s fourth professional title.

“I made some tired misses, which were costly tonight,” Robertson added. “It was well below the level I’d shown getting to the final.

“He punished me really well. He won a couple of good frames to go 4-1 up. I had a great chance for 4-3, but it just summed up my performance with a few tired shots here and there.

“I’ve got to the final with some brilliant performances and it’s taken the World champion to beat me, so there’s no shame in that.”
