Ronnie O’Sullivan goes head to head with Joe Perry on Sunday with the 2026 World Seniors Championship crown on the line.

The seven-time World professional champion does battle with the reigning British Seniors Open champion over the best of 19 frames at the Crucible Theatre, for the trophy and top prize of £30,000.

O’Sullivan was an overwhelming favourite to go all the way on his Seniors bow, so it is no great surprise to see him contesting the showpiece.

The Rocket opened with a 4-1 victory over former practice partner Ken Doherty, before putting Peter Lines to the sword 4-2.

O’Sullivan was far from his fluent best during his semi-final against Robert Milkins, but recovered from 5-4 down to eventually prevail a 7-5 winner.

The 50-year-old won 18 of his 20 professional meetings with Perry, and each of the last 12. That includes a 10-7 triumph in their most notable showdown in the 2017 Masters final.

That was the only Triple Crown final Perry contested during his 33-year professional career, and this is his first global final at any level.

A Crucible semi-finalist in 2008, the two-time ranking event winner also reached the last four of the UK Championship on two occasions.

Perry is now looking to double up in his first full season on the Seniors circuit, following his triumph at the British Seniors Open in December.

The Gentleman defeated 2018 champion Aaron Canavan 4-2 and two-time Crucible finalist Matthew Stevens 4-1, but looked in trouble at 3-0 down against Craig Steadman in the semi-finals.

However, Perry rallied to eventually run out a 7-5 victor, setting up one of the biggest matches of his life.

The match breaks off at around 12.45pm BST on Sunday with the opening eight frames, before playing to a finish from 7pm at the Crucible Theatre.
