Kyren Wilson v Mark Selby live stream | China Open 2026 preview

Mark Selby looks to maintain his 100% record against Kyren Wilson when they collide in the China Open second round on Thursday.

The tournament’s joint-most successful player with three titles – level with Mark Williams – Selby has won all seven of his previous meetings with Wilson (excluding the Championship League).

Two of those came in the China Open semi-finals, on his way to claiming his second and third triumphs in 2017 and 2018.

Selby was also a dominant winner in their most recent encounter in the 2025 Championship League invitational final, hitting breaks of 99 and 100 as he outscored his opponent 265-12 to claim a dominant 3-0 victory.

The Jester won the first of his China Open crowns in 2015, while he was a beaten finalist in 2011 and 2013.

His quest for an outright record fourth title began with a 6-3 win over Pang Junxu in the opening round, though it was not quite as routine for Wilson.

The Warrior trailed 3-1 and 4-3 against Aaron Hill, but dug deep to eventually scrape through a narrow 6-5 winner on the final pink.

Nevertheless, Wilson certainly has momentum after beating Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams and Zhao Xintong on the way to the Shanghai Masters final last time out, before succumbing to world number one Judd Trump.

He now looks to add Selby to his early list of victories over elite opponents this season, while also stopping the rot on the head-to-head record.

A showdown with either two-time champion Neil Robertson or local favourite Si Jiahui awaits the winner in the quarter-finals.

Robertson, winner of this event in 2013 and 2019, withstood Chang Bingyu’s first-round fightback from 5-0 down to eventually prevail 6-3, while Si was a comfortable 6-0 winner over compatriot Jiang Jun.

Meanwhile, after beating four-time World champion John Higgins 6-4 from 4-3 down, 2015 Crucible king Stuart Bingham looks to reach his fifth China Open quarter-final when he plays Hossein Vafaei, who received a bye to this round following Mark Allen’s withdrawal.

Zhang Anda’s reward for edging out Zhao Xintong on the final black in round one is a clash with Scottish Open champion Chris Wakelin, with both players appearing in the round of 16 for the first time.

Play gets under way at 7am BST (2pm local time) on Thursday with all matches contested over the best of 11 frames at the Riverside Sports Centre in Taiyuan.
