Judd Trump v John Higgins live stream | English Open Semi-Final preview
Judd Trump and John Higgins lock horns in a blockbuster English Open semi-final showdown at the Brentwood Centre on Saturday.
For the second time in three rankings events, the two Triple Crown winners go head to head with a place in the final at stake.
Trump came out on top when they met at this stage of the European Masters six weeks ago, recovering from 3-0 down for a narrow 6-5 victory and his eighth triumph from their last nine encounters.
The Ace will want to continue that impressive streak in his 55th ranking semi-final – one-fifth of which have come in the Home Nations Series, in which he is the joint-most successful player alongside Mark Selby on four titles.
One of those came in this event back in 2020, when he beat Neil Robertson in a thrilling final, while he was also a runner-up four years previously.
Trump now targets his first ranking silverware since the 2022 Turkish Masters and looked good during his quarter-final victory over Matthew Selt, hitting breaks of 137 and 103 in a resounding 5-1 success.
Higgins also beat Martin O’Donnell by that scoreline to progress to his third English Open semi-final – and 82nd in all ranking tournaments.
Runner-up to Robertson two years ago, the Scotsman has grown stronger as the week has progressed. Indeed, he has dropped just two frames in his last three matches, having also put Mark Davis and Oliver Lines to the sword 4-0 and 4-1 respectively.
Like Trump, the Wizard is also aiming to end a lengthy wait for silverware, with his most recent in a ranking event coming at the 2021 Players Championship.
The match will be contested over the best of 11 frames at the Brentwood Centre on Saturday, with a place in the English Open final on offer to the winner.
