Judd Trump resumes his German Masters title defence on Thursday with a blockbuster last-16 tie against Neil Robertson in Berlin.

Three-time champion Trump is one of two former winners still standing at the Tempodrom, along with Kyren Wilson, while three previous finalists also remain in the 16-man field.

The Ace won the first of his titles in 2020 following a 9-6 victory over Robertson in the showpiece.

World number one Trump was also victorious when the pair met at the UK Championship, prevailing 6-3 in round one on the way to landing his third silverware of the season, in which he has also captured the Shanghai Masters and Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.

English Open champion Robertson will be eager to avenge that defeat, and reach the last eight in Berlin for the first time since that run to the final five years ago.

Meanwhile, Wilson and Jak Jones collide in a repeat of the last season’s Crucible final, which the Warrior won 18-14.

Both players overturned 2-0 deficits to record 5-3 victories in the last 32; Wilson doing so against Zhou Yuelong and Jones repeating the feat against John Higgins.

The Warrior, who lifted this trophy in 2019, will look to remain on course to bounce back from his Masters final disappointment by claiming his third title of the season.

Shaun Murphy, who beat Wilson in the Alexandra Palace showpiece, is yet to drop a frame this week as he prepares to face Yuan Sijun.

The Magician also knows what it takes to go deep at the Tempodrom, having been runner-up to Mark Selby a decade ago.

The other two top-16 players still in the draw are Barry Hawkins and Zhang Anda, who face tricky ties against Ricky Walden and Anthony McGill respectively.

Wu Yize and Alexander Ursenbacher go head to head looking to build on the momentum of their last-32 scalps. English and Scottish Open finalist Wu recovered from 4-2 down to edge out Mark Allen, while the Swiss number one whitewashed two-time champion Ali Carter 5-0.

Elsewhere, 2023 finalist Tom Ford locks horns with Aaron Hill, who has already beaten two-time champion Mark Williams this week. Meanwhile, Elliot Slessor’s reward for taking out Selby is a showdown with Wuhan Open winner Xiao Guodong.

Play gets under way at 9am GMT on Thursday with all matches contested over the best of nine frames at the Tempodrom in Berlin.
