Judd Trump continues his quest for a record-extending fifth Northern Ireland Open title when he plays Jackson Page on Tuesday.

Trump is the most successful player not only in Northern Ireland Open history, but also the Home Nations Series with six triumphs.

Four of those have come courtesy of him lifting the Alex Higgins trophy in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023.

The Ace was runner-up to Kyren Wilson 12 months ago, with his eight previous appearances also yielding a run to the quarter-finals.

His latest mission for glory in Belfast began with a 4-2 victory over British Open finalist Anthony McGill, during which he made breaks of 82, 68, 67 and 62.

Trump is hoping for a deep run at the Waterfront Hall at the very least to kick-start his season, having not yet progressed beyond the last 16 of any ranking event.

Nevertheless, the world number one will be confident here due to his perfect record against Page, who he has beaten in all four of their previous meetings – most recently a 6-2 success in the 2024 World Open semi-finals.

However, unlike Trump, the Welshman can boast a ranking quarter-final appearance this term, achieving it at the previous Home Nations event in Brentwood.

Indeed, Page progressed to the last eight of the English Open after beating the likes of Neil Robertson and Shaun Murphy, but saw his impressive run ended by a deciding-frame defeat to Mark Selby.

The world number 33’s best performance at the Northern Ireland Open saw him reach the last 16 back in 2021, and his quest to go further four years on began with a 4-0 whitewash of Steven Hallworth in the opening round.

Three-time Home Nations winner Gary Wilson or former Welsh Open finalist Martin O’Donnell awaits the winner of this showdown in the last 16.

The match breaks off at 7pm BST on Tuesday and will be contested over the best of seven frames at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast.
