Mark Selby resumes his quest to complete the Home Nations slam against Jack Lisowski in the Northern Ireland Open second round on Wednesday.
The Jester is aiming to make history this week at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, where he is a 2018 semi-finalist and two-time quarter-finalist.
A two-time Scottish and English Open champion, Selby added last season’s Welsh Open to his silverware haul, meaning he now only requires the Alex Higgins trophy to complete the set.
The four-time World champion has enjoyed a consistent start to the campaign – reaching the semi-finals at the Shanghai Masters, English Open and British Open.
He built on that momentum with a top break of 129 on the way to a 4-1 victory over Ian Burns in the opening round, and now looks to record a fifth victory over Lisowski in six meetings.
Jackpot did, however, win their most recent clash at last season’s UK Championship, and looked in fine fettle in his opening match of this week.
Indeed, he took just 47 minutes to complete a 4-0 rout of Haris Tahir, hitting breaks of 112 and 78 along the way.
Lisowski, who reached the semi-finals in Belfast in 2023, reached the last 16 of the English Open in the previous Home Nations event, during which he defeated reigning World champion Zhao Xintong.
The world number 29 can match that run with victory here, as he looks to go deep once more in the Northern Irish capital and propel himself back towards the elite top-16 bracket.
A showdown with former Shoot Out champion Thepchaiya Un-Nooh awaits the winner of this clash in the last 16.
The match breaks off at 1pm BST on Wednesday and will be contested over the best of seven frames at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast.
