Judd Trump goes head to head with John Higgins in a blockbuster Northern Ireland Open quarter-final on Friday.
The Waterfront Hall in Belfast will be treated to a cracking contest between two players boasting a combined 14 major titles, and 63 ranking triumphs.
Trump has dominated the recent head-to-head record, winning each of the last six meetings. He has also won four of their five showdowns in the Home Nations series, including a 6-3 victory in the semi-finals of this event six years ago.
The four-time Northern Ireland Open champion, who was runner-up to Kyren Wilson 12 months ago, is making his seventh quarter-final appearance at the tournament, and first in a ranking event this season.
Following a pair of 4-2 wins over Anthony McGill and Jackson Page, the Ace hit breaks of 132, 95 and 83 on the way to a commanding 4-1 success over three-time Home Nations winner Gary Wilson.
Higgins, meanwhile, is appearing in his third ranking quarter-final of the campaign, and the 153rd of his magnificent career.
It is also the Wizard’s third appearance in the last eight in Belfast, where he was runner-up to Mark Allen four years ago.
The Wizard endured contrasting victories in his opening two matches. After whitewashing Louis Heathcote in round one, he edged out Pang Junxu in a deciding frame.
Higgins then showed his class against another Chinese opponent in Si Jiahui, prevailing a comfortable 4-1 victor.
A home favourite awaits the winner of this clash in the semi-finals, in two-time champion Mark Allen or former Welsh Open winner Jordan Brown.
The match breaks off at 12pm BST on Friday and will be contested over the best of nine frames at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast.
