Kyren Wilson puts his Northern Ireland Open title defence on the line once more on Friday when he plays Jack Lisowski in the quarter-finals.

The Warrior, who beat Judd Trump 9-3 in last year’s final, is three wins away from becoming the third player to successfully defend the Alex Higgins trophy, after Trump and Mark Allen.

Wilson has enjoyed a welcome return to form this week, after personal issues away from the table prevented him from building on his early-season momentum.

Indeed, he lifted the Shanghai Masters and reached the Saudi Arabia Masters quarter-finals, but followed it up with last-64 exits at the Wuhan Open, English Open and British Open.

Wilson appeared in danger of another early departure at 3-2 down against Oliver Lines in the opening round, but recovered to prevail in a decider, before hitting breaks of 135 and 93 in a 4-1 win over Ryan Day, and beating He Guoqiang 4-2.

Lisowski, by contrast, made a flying start to his Northern Ireland Open campaign, taking just 47 minutes to complete a 4-0 rout of Haris Tahir.

The world number 29 built on that momentum in the following round by defeating Mark Selby 4-2, denying the four-time World champion the opportunity to complete the Home Nations slam.

Lisowski then enjoyed another 4-2 victory over Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in a rapid last-16 showdown that took just over an hour to complete.

The left-hander has confidence and will look to use that to his advantage as he looks to finally get his hands on ranking silverware.

Either reigning Shoot Out champion Tom Ford or former Northern Ireland Open finalist Zhou Yuelong awaits the winner of this clash in the last four.

The match breaks off at around 3pm BST on Friday and will be contested over the best of nine frames at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast.
