Judd Trump v John Higgins live stream | Players Championship 2026 preview
Judd Trump renews his rivalry with John Higgins as they lock horns in the Players Championship semi-finals for a second year running.
It will be a rerun of their epic last-four clash at the Masters five weeks ago, during which Higgins recovered from 5-3 down to prevail a dramatic 6-5 winner.
Although, that represented only the Scotsman’s second victory in 16 meetings (excluding the Championship League) with Trump, who won 6-4 when they faced off in the semi-finals of this event last season.
The world number one, who recently ended his title drought at the German Masters, is looking to complete a hat-trick of Players Championship successes, having lifted the trophy in 2017 and 2020.
Trump has been in impressive form so far this week, opening with breaks of 61, 69, 63, 117 and 75 during a 6-0 whitewash of Zhou Yuelong.
The Ace then finished strongly against Mark Williams, who recovered from 4-1 down to only trail 4-3, getting over the line with breaks of 70 and 123.
Meanwhile, 2021 champion Higgins has enjoyed a busy week in Telford, where he has combined his playing commitments with stints as a pundit on Channel 5’s coverage.
Fresh from becoming the oldest Masters finalist last month, the 50-year-old has built on his recent momentum, with runs of 70, 84 and 133 helping him to a 6-1 rout of top seed Neil Robertson.
Higgins then reeled off the last three frames during a tight quarter-final with Chris Wakelin, hitting breaks of 53 and 108 to secure a 6-3 victory and a place in a 91st career ranking semi-final.
It promises to be another blockbuster showdown between two of the game’s all-time greats, with Zhao Xintong or Mark Allen awaiting the winner in Sunday’s final.
The match breaks off at 1pm GMT on Saturday and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at Telford International Centre.
