Shaun Murphy v Ali Carter live stream | Players Championship Final preview
Shaun Murphy and Ali Carter collide for the right to be crowned the 2023 Players Championship winner in Wolverhampton on Sunday.
The form players of the week go head to head over the best of 19 frames at Aldersley Leisure Village for the top prize of £125,000, while becoming the fifth different winner of the prestigious title.
They are meeting for the second time in as many months with Murphy enjoying a commanding 4-0 victory at the World Grand Prix, though Carter prevailed when they previously contested a final at the 2015 Paul Hunter Classic.
Murphy is appearing in back-to-back finals, having narrowly lost out to Robert Milkins in last week’s Welsh Open showpiece.
The Magician, who was runner-up to Ronnie O’Sullivan at this event five years ago, will be hoping to go one step better this time around and become only the 11th different player to win 10 ranking titles.
The world number 11 is certainly in the form to do so having compiled six centuries this week, including the top break of 137, while recording a pair of 6-3 wins over Mark Selby and Kyren Wilson either side of a comprehensive 6-0 whitewash of Ryan Day.
Meanwhile, after waiting nearly seven years for a ranking tournament victory, Carter is now targeting his second in the space of three weeks.
The Captain ended his silverware drought at the German Masters at the start of the month, and has built on that momentum to stand within one win of capturing multiple titles in the same season for the first time in his career.
Indeed, the world number 15 edged out Judd Trump 6-5 and swept Welsh Open champion Milkins aside 6-1, before recovering from 4-2 down to defeat Scottish Open runner-up Joe O’Connor 6-4 in the semi-finals.
Play gets underway at 1pm GMT on Sunday with the opening session, before drawing to a conclusion at 7pm at Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton.
