Ronnie O’Sullivan locks horns with Neil Robertson in a mouth-watering Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters final on Saturday.

Two of snooker’s best ever players go head to head in a blockbuster best-of-19 showdown at the Green Halls in Jeddah, with the bumper top prize of £500,000 on offer to the winner.

It will be the eighth final the pair have contested, with O’Sullivan prevailing in four of the previous seven such occasions.

The Rocket has already enjoyed a hugely lucrative week in Jeddah, aided by his remarkable pair of maximum breaks against Chris Wakelin on Friday.

O’Sullivan had gone almost seven years without compiling a 147 in professional competition, but ended the wait in spectacular fashion as he achieved perfection in frames one and seven to land a bonus prize of £147,000.

The seven-time World champion is also already guaranteed at least £200,000 for reaching what is his 65th ranking final following a 6-3 victory over Wakelin – during which he also hit breaks of 142 and 134.

O’Sullivan has also demonstrated superb determination along the way, recovering from 5-2 and 5-3 down to beat Chang Bingyu and Kyren Wilson in deciding frames, while whitewashing Joe O’Connor 5-0 in his other match.

Meanwhile, victory here for Robertson would secure the biggest payday of the Australian’s career.

The Thunder is eyeing his 26th ranking title, which would move him joint-sixth with Mark Williams on the all-time list, in what is his 39th such final.

Robertson opened the week with a 5-2 win over Ben Woollaston, while a pair of 6-4 victories over Mark Selby and Ali Carter set up a clash with Elliot Slessor, who was defeated 6-3 in the semi-finals.

With two players at the peak of their powers – hitting a combined 16 centuries along the way – we are set for a thrilling climax over the best of 19 frames at the Green Halls in Jeddah on Saturday.

The match breaks off at 11am BST with the opening eight frames, while playing to a conclusion with a maximum of 11 from 5.30pm.
