Mink faces compatriot Noppon Saengkham in Cannock on Wednesday

Mink Nutcharut looks to claim another scalp when she plays compatriot Noppon Saengkham in the Scottish Open qualifiers on Wednesday.

The two Thai cueists go head to head at Chase Leisure Centre in Cannock for a place in the main stages of the tournament next month.

The reigning World Women’s champion has made great strides during the early stages of her maiden season on the men’s professional tour.

Indeed, Mink has already captured silverware alongside Neil Robertson after playing a starring role in the inaugural World Mixed Doubles last month.

That came after she defeated Mitchell Mann 4-2 to qualify for the Northern Ireland Open, where she will play either Ricky Walden or Xiao Guodong in Belfast next week.

Mink now looks to build on that momentum by earning another notable victory against fellow Thai cueist Saengkham.

Although, the world number 33 will also be feeling confident following his run to the British Open semi-finals a fortnight ago.

Saengkham defeated the likes of reigning UK Championship and German Masters winner Zhao Xintong and former Welsh Open champion Jordan Brown on the way to reaching the last four in Milton Keynes, where he eventually succumbed 6-1 to an inspired Mark Allen.

That marked the 30-year-old’s third ranking event semi-final appearance – and first for four years – and he will hope that serves as a springboard towards breaking into the top 32 and beyond this season.

The winner of this match will play either Hossein Vafaei or Ian Burns in the main stages of the Scottish Open next month.

Play gets underway at 1pm BST on Wednesday and will be contested over the best of seven frames at Chase Leisure Centre in Cannock.
