Snooker Shoot Out 2025 | Finals Day Preview and Order of Play

Ford claimed the first major ranking title of his 23-year professional career in 2024

The Snooker Shoot Out returns to the iconic Blackpool Tower this week, and you can follow the latest results and schedule of play here.

Snooker is back in Blackpool for the first time in over a decade, with 128 players gearing up for the unique single-frame event – and penultimate ranking tournament of 2025 – which will take place between December 10 and 13.

The iconic venue hosted the first five editions of the Shoot Out between 2011 and 2015, along with the 2014 Mosconi Cup and 2015 World Seniors Championship.

All 15 previous editions of the tournament have provided a different champion, so every player will fancy their chances of landing the top prize of £50,000.

Tom Ford is the defending champion after beating Liam Graham 31-28 in a dramatic final to claim his maiden ranking title 12 months ago.

Ford is one of seven former winners in this year’s draw, along with Mark Allen, Ryan Day, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, Michael Holt, Anthony McGill and Hossein Vafaei.

Luca Brecel also knows what it takes to go deep in the event having previously reached the final, as have Zhou Yuelong, Stuart Bingham, Robert Milkins and Julien Leclercq.

They are joined in the draw by reigning World champion Zhao Xintong and Shaun Murphy, who compiled the first 147 in a timed format two years ago.

Crowd favourites Jimmy White and Ken Doherty are joined by some of the world’s top female players in Reanne Evans, Ng On Yee and Bai Yulu.

Eight amateurs have also been invited to participate in Vladislav Gradinari, Riley Powell, Steven Wardropper, Jack O’Brien, Kaylan Patel, Ethan Llewellyn, Joel Connolly and 14-year-old Ellise Scott.

The general rules of the Shoot Out are the same as those in a traditional game of snooker, although there are several key variants that epitomise the uniqueness of the event.

These include all frames being capped at 10 minutes, with the player scoring the most points declared the winner.

Players will lag to decide who breaks off and there will be a shot clock in operation, with the competitors having 15 seconds to complete each shot over the first five minutes of the frame, while just 10 seconds will be allocated during the last five minutes.

Players must hit a cushion or pot a ball with each they shot play otherwise it will be deemed a foul which, along with any other infringement, will result in the opponent being awarded the cue ball-in-hand.
