Tom Ford bids to complete a successful title defence when the 2025 Snooker Shoot Out reaches a dramatic climax on Saturday.

The penultimate silverware of 2025 is up for grabs at the Blackpool Tower, where the remaining 32 players will battle it out over five rounds for the right to land the trophy and top prize of £50,000.

No player has ever won the Shoot Out on multiple occasions since the inaugural staging in 1990, with the 16 previous editions providing a different champion on each occasion.

Ford, who lifted the trophy in Leicester 12 months ago, is one of two former winners looking to double up in the unique single-frame event, along with 2021 victor Ryan Day.

The other ranking event winners still standing are Stuart Bingham, Luca Brecel, Gary Wilson, David Gilbert and Fan Zhengyi, with the former two having previously reached a Shoot Out final in 2014 and 2016 respectively.

Zhou Yuelong and Julien Leclercq are also former Shoot Out finalists looking to go one step better, with those two in with a shout of making their career breakthrough by going all the way.

The same can be said of young stars Stan Moody and Jackson Page, along with the likes of Noppon Saengkham, Elliot Slessor and Pang Junxu.

Ng On Yee is the last female standing, with the former Women’s World champion having already beaten Mark Allen and Aaron Hill this week.

Ross Muir, meanwhile, took down reigning World champion Zhao Xintong in the opening round, with 17-year-olds Ethan Llewellyn and Kaylan Patel among the amateur nominations still in contention in Blackpool.

Play gets under way at 1pm GMT on Saturday with all matches contested over a single frame at the Blackpool Tower.

Players will lag to decide who breaks off and there will be a shot clock in operation, with the players having 15 seconds to complete each shot over the first five minutes of the frame, while just 10 seconds will be allocated during the last five minutes.

Players must hit a cushion or pot a ball with each they shot play, otherwise it will be deemed a foul which – along with any other infringement – will result in the opponent being awarded the cue ball-in-hand.
