Judd Trump v Shaun Murphy live stream | Tour Championship 2026 preview
Judd Trump looks to continue his dominant recent record against Shaun Murphy when the pair collide in the Tour Championship quarter-finals.
Two of the game’s most natural and attacking players go head to head on Wednesday for a place in the semi-finals at Manchester Central.
The recent form book would make Trump a heavy favourite. The Ace has prevailed from nine of the last 10 meetings between the players, most recently a 10-4 triumph in last month’s German Masters final.
That ended Trump’s 14-month silverware drought, and he has reached a further three semi-finals in the five tournaments he has played in 2026.
The world number one is also fresh from ending a barren streak at the Tour Championship stretching back to 2020.
Indeed, that was the last time he had won a match at the elite event, and it looked like that four-match losing run would continue at 4-0 down against Mark Allen in round one on Monday.
Yet, the Ace recovered to level at 4-4 by the end of the opening session, before completing the turnaround later on and running out a 10-8 winner.
Aided mainly by his British Open triumph and runs to the Xi’an Grand Prix and German Masters finals, Murphy was seeded through to the quarter-finals at what is only his fourth Tour Championship appearance.
His previous three have seen him lift the trophy in 2023, but also suffer two first-round exits, including a resounding 10-1 defeat by an inspired Barry Hawkins in last year’s event.
Though runner-up in Berlin, Murphy heads to Manchester struggling for consistent form, having also bowed out in the opening round of three tournaments in 2026.
But, despite that and his poor recent record against Trump, a good omen is the fact he has gone on to reach the final following three of his last four victories over the Ace, the most recent of which culminated in his success at this season’s British Open.
A semi-final showdown with either two-time Tour Championship victor Neil Robertson or Welsh Open champion Barry Hawkins awaits the winner of this best-of-19 clash.
The match breaks off at 1pm BST with the opening eight frames, before resuming at 7pm and playing to a conclusion at Manchester Central.
