Judd Trump and Mark Selby go head to head on Sunday for the right to be crowned the winner of the UK Championship for a third time.
Both players have the opportunity to move level with John Higgins, Neil Robertson and Ding Junhui, by completing a hat-trick of titles at the York Barbican Centre.
Trump and Selby are meeting in a final on British soil for the second time in three weeks. Indeed, they also contested the Champion of Champions showpiece last month, with the Jester producing three successive centuries to wrap up a 10-5 victory.
The Ace will be desperate to avenge that defeat as he aims to finally return to the winners’ circle for the first time since landing his second UK crown 12 months ago.
Trump is appearing in his fifth UK final – a tally bettered only by Steve Davis, Stephen Hendry (both 10) and Ronnie O’Sullivan – and looking to become just the fourth player, after the aforementioned trio, to successfully defend the title.
The world number one has defeated three former champions on route to the showpiece, in Stephen Maguire, Ding and Neil Robertson, as well as Si Jiahui.
He now bids to take down another and has won both his Triple Crown meetings with Selby, including a 6-3 victory in the quarter-finals of this event two years ago.
The Jester is gearing up for his fourth UK final, nine years after claiming his second title.
A trio of 6-2 wins over Lei Peifan, Zhou Yuelong and Barry Hawkins set him on his way in York this week, before he hit two centuries on the way to defeating Shaun Murphy 6-3 in the semi-finals.
As well as completing a UK Championship hat-trick, Selby also has the opportunity to land a 10th Triple Crown, and join O’Sullivan, Hendry and Davis as the only players to reach double figures.
A wonderful week at the York Barbican Centre concludes on Sunday with a mouth-watering battle between two of the game’s greats over the best of 19 frames.
The match breaks off at 1pm GMT with the opening eight frames, before playing to a finish from 7pm.
