Mark Allen headlines the second day of the 2024 UK Championship, with Mark Selby also in action at the York Barbican Centre.

The two Marks are the two former UK champions on display on Sunday, when another four players will book their places in the last 16 of the season’s first Triple Crown.

Allen lifted this trophy two years ago, overturning a 6-1 deficit to defeat Ding Junhui 10-7 in the final, while he was also the runner-up in 2011 and 2018.

However, his title defence fell at the first hurdle 12 months ago, as Ding avenged that loss with a deciding-frame victory, and he will be hoping to avoid another early exit this time around.

The Pistol has reached the semi-finals at the British Open and Champion of Champions this season, and will fancy his chances of embarking on another deep run in York.

However, he faces a tricky opening test in Jackson Page, who beat Jamie Clarke and Hossein Vafaei to qualify for the main stages.

The Welshman will not be deterred either, having already reached the Championship League final and International Championship quarter-finals this term.

Another tasty clash pits two-time champion Selby against former semi-finalist Jack Lisowski.

The Jester, who lifted this trophy in 2012 and 2016, has won each of his last four meetings with Jackpot, and will hope to continue that and make a positive start in his bid to complete a hat-trick of titles.

Elsewhere, Ali Carter goes head to head with Ryan Day in a battle of the multiple ranking event winners – and former UK Championship semi-finalists.

The other tie of the day sees two of this season’s ranking event finalists do battle in Si Jiahui and Wu Yize.

Wuhan Open runner-up Si is appearing in this event for the first time as a seed, and will look to build on that momentum against his compatriot, who was a beaten finalist at the English Open.

Play gets under way at 1pm GMT on Sunday with all matches contested over the best of 11 frames at the York Barbican Centre.
