Jordan Brown is the defending champion

Welsh Open Snooker returns to Celtic Manor in 2022, and you can follow the latest results and schedule of play here.

The 12th ranking event of the season and the 31st edition of the Welsh Open features 64 players competing for £405,000 in prize money.

Qualification for the tournament took place in February, while matches involving the top 16 seeds and the two wildcards are held over to the main venue.

Jordan Brown is the defending champion after he defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan 9-8 in last year’s gripping final behind closed doors.

Brown is among an elite group of 16 players to have lifted this famous trophy since the event began back in 1992.

John Higgins is the most decorated player in Welsh Open history, having claimed the title on five occasions and finished runner-up on a further two.

O’Sullivan is bidding to equal Higgins’ record tally as he bids to bounce back from a deciding frame defeat to Fan Zhengyi in the final of the European Masters on Sunday.

Other multiple champions in action include Neil Robertson and home favourite Mark Williams, while the likes of Judd Trump, Mark Selby, Kyren Wilson and Zhao Xintong will also be vying for glory.

All matches up to and including the Last 16 will be contested over the best of seven frames, with Quarter-Finals best of nine, Semi-Finals best of 11 and the final best of 17.
