Judd Trump looks to maintain his dominant recent record over Kyren Wilson when they collide in the World Open quarter-finals on Friday.

The standout tie of the last eight pits the reigning champion against the world number 11 at the Yushan Sports Centre.

The recent head-to-head record would make Trump a heavy favourite, with the Ace prevailing in each of the last seven meetings between the players (excluding the Championship League).

Although, their most recent encounter at this season’s Masters went right down to the wire with Trump, who trailed 3-0, scraping over the line in a deciding frame.

The world number two is gearing up for the 90th ranking quarter-final of his career, and his ninth in season that has already brought success at the English Open, Wuhan Open, Northern Ireland Open and German Masters.

He has continued in that vein this week, compiling five centuries while defeating Rory Thor, Sanderson Lam, Fan Zhengyi and David Lilley along the way.

Despite playing one less match, Wilson has hit six tons to reach his third quarter-final of the campaign.

One of those came courtesy of a timely 119 during the decider in his last-16 win over Ben Woollaston, while he also beat David Grace in a final frame and overcame Ashley Hugill 5-3.

Seeking his first silverware of a generally modest season by his standards, the Warrior has the added incentive of knowing that lifting the trophy would secure his place at the Tour Championship.

The winner of this match will play either Elliot Slessor or Jackson Page in the World Open semi-finals.

Play gets under way at 6.30am GMT on Friday and will be contested over the best of nine frames at the Yushan Sports Centre.
