World Open Snooker 2024 | Day Three Preview and Order of Play
Judd Trump resumes his World Open title defence on Wednesday when he locks horns with home favourite Fan Zhengyi in the second round.
The likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby and World champion Luca Brecel are also in action as the last 32 takes centre stage at the Yushan Sports Centre.
Trump was the most recent winner of this tournament back in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic led to its cancellation, beating fellow left-hander Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 10-5 in the final.
The Ace will look to defend the crown and land his fifth silverware of the season, having already triumphed at the English Open, Wuhan Open, Northern Ireland Open and German Masters.
After beating Sanderson Lam 5-2 on Tuesday, he faces another tough test in former European Masters champion Fan, who will be roared on by his home crowd as he looks to add to his three quarter-final appearances this term.
O’Sullivan and Selby also face Chinese opposition. The Rocket’s quest for a sixth title of the campaign resumes against Lyu Haotian, with the recently crowned Championship League winner playing Long Zehuang.
Meanwhile, reigning Crucible king Brecel is in for a tough battle with Stephen Maguire, as will Masters runner-up Ali Carter against former Shoot Out champion Chris Wakelin.
Another tasty clash pits Shaun Murphy against Joe Perry, while Ding Junhui is set to lock horns with Cao Yupeng in an all-Chinese battle.
Neil Robertson, who must win this event to stand any chance of securing his top-16 status ahead of the World Championship, continues his mission against Yuan Sijun, with Kyren Wilson taking on Ashley Hugill.
Robert Milkins goes head to head with Hossein Vafaei in another eye-catching tie, while reigning European Masters champion Barry Hawkins goes up against fellow left-hander Robbie Williams.
Play gets under way at 6.30am GMT on Wednesday with all matches contested over the best of nine frames at the Yushan Sports Centre.
