Mark Allen makes magnificent maximum break at the World Snooker Championship
Mark Allen produced a sensational maximum break against Chris Wakelin at the World Snooker Championship on Friday.
Allen became the 11th different player to achieve a 147 at The Crucible as he produced perfection in frame 13 of their Second Round contest.
The feat puts the Northern Irishman in line for a Β£40,000 bonus and also earned one lucky fan in the crowd – 75-year-old Brian Nicholls – Β£25,000 courtesy of tournament partners Midnite.
However, Allen’s stint in this year’s World Championship looks to be coming to an end as Wakelin dominated the session to establish a 12-4 lead heading into tonight’s conclusion, requiring just one more frame for a place in the quarter-finals.
Allen’s maximum is the 15th in the main stages of the World Championship and the first at the sport’s spiritual home since 2023.
Jackson Page had compiled an astonishing two maximum breaks during his win over Allan Taylor in the qualifying rounds to scoop a staggering Β£147,000 bonus.
