Yan Bingtao will look to continue his 100 per cent record against Mark Selby when they collide in the World Championship second round.
The Jester and Tiger go head to head at the Crucible on Friday in what promises to be a hard fought encounter between two of snooker’s toughest competitors.
Yan has enjoyed the upper hand against Selby in recent times. Indeed, the former Masters champion has won all three of their meetings this season, including a 6-3 triumph at the Champion of Champions.
The former Masters champion will be eager to resume his impressive streak as he looks to reach the quarter-finals of snooker’s blue-riband event for the first time.
The world number 16 certainly has momentum after a solid scoring display against Chris Wakelin in round one; hitting two centuries and a further nine breaks over 50 in a 10-6 win.
As for Selby, he made three tons to launch his title defence with a 10-7 victory over Jamie Jones.
It is the 14th time in 18 appearances that the Jester will appear in the second round at the Crucible, where he is seeking a fifth title.
The world number three has endured a difficult season on the tour, while he bravely revealed his ongoing battle with mental health issues.
And Yan will provide a tough test of his credentials as he bids to aim a generally modest campaign on a high.
Mark Williams, who completed a 13-3 demolition of Jackson Page, awaits the winner in the quarter-finals at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
Play gets underway at 2.30pm BST on Friday with the opening eight frames, before playing to a conclusion at 10am and 7pm on Saturday.
