Four-time World Champions Mark Selby and John Higgins go head-to-head in the Quarter-Finals of the 2023 World Snooker Championship.

A mouth-watering contest sees two of the most decorated stars in the modern history of the sport collide in a bid to reach the hallowed one-table setup once more.

The match signals a repeat of the 2007 and 2017 finals and will be their sixth meeting at The Crucible since 2005.

Only Ronnie O’Sullivan and Stephen Hendry have made more Quarter-Final appearances than Higgins (17) – who looks to have preserved his vintage best form for the sport’s biggest occasion.

The Scot has stormed into the Last Eight for the loss of just five frames, brushing aside David Grace 10-3 before completing a 13-2 demolition of Kyren Wilson with a session to spare.

Higgins looks to have put an otherwise uneventful season behind him as he bids for a fifth Crucible crown, having won the title in 1998, 2007, 2009 and 2011, before losing in three consecutive finals from 2017-2019.

Selby, meanwhile, is through to his tenth World Championship Quarter-Final and has not suffered defeat at this stage of the competition since 2011.

After a below-par 2021/22 campaign, Selby has returned to top form this season, picking up the English Open and WST Classic titles and remains in contention for a fifth world title in the space of a decade.

The Jester from Leicester dug deep to defeat Matthew Selt 10-8 in Round One, before avenging his 2019 defeat to Gary Wilson by sealing a 13-7 success in the Last 16.

Selby has won 13 of his 21 previous meetings with Higgins, including both of their fixtures earlier this season, while their World Championship record stands at 3-2 to the Wizard of Wishaw.

Their latest encounter gets under way from 2.30pm BST on Tuesday April 25 for a maximum of eight frames, resuming from 2.30pm on Wednesday, before being played to a finish from 7pm that evening over the best of 25.

Either UK Champion Mark Allen or debutant qualifier Jak Jones will await the winner in the Semi-Finals on Thursday.
