Former World Champions Judd Trump and Luca Brecel go head-to-head in a mouth-watering quarter-final at The Crucible.
Two of snooker’s most gifted natural talents face off on the sport’s greatest stage for a place in the hallowed one-table setup.
Trump has maintained his clinical level of consistency at The Crucible by reaching an 11th quarter-final in 16 appearances, achieving a landmark tally along the way.
The world number one made his 100th century break of the season en route to a 13-10 victory over Shaun Murphy in the second round, scooping a £100,000 bonus in the process.
Prior to that, he had safely seen off Zhao Yuelong 10-4 in the opening round and is now eyeing a sixth semi-final berth in Sheffield since finishing runner-up in 2011.
The 2019 World Champion, who also lost out to Ronnie O’Sullivan in the 2022 final, has taken his tally of ranking titles to 30 courtesy of triumphs at the Saudi Arabia Masters and UK Championship this season, whilst also finishing runner-up in the Northern Ireland Open and Players Championship.
Brecel, meanwhile, has produced two electrifying performances to reach only his second World Championship quarter-final, two years on from his memorable world title triumph.
The Belgian star recovered from 5-1 down to defeat Ryan Day 10-7 in round one, before demolishing 2016 runner-up Ding Junhui 13-4 despite three centuries from his opponent.
Brecel had endured a torrid season coming into this event, with his semi-final run at the Welsh Open representing his best display in a ranking tournament.
Trump has dominated the head-to-heads between the two players, winning ten of their previous 13 meetings, though this will be their first encounter since the 2023 World Grand Prix.
The match gets under way from 2.30pm BST on Tuesday for a maximum of eight frames, before resuming from 2.30pm on Wednesday and being played to a finish over the best of 25 from 7pm that evening.
Either four-time World Champion John Higgins or three-time World Champion Mark Williams will await the winner in the semi-finals.
