Ranking event action returns to China (Photo via PA Images/Alamy)

The inaugural Wuhan Open takes place from October 9-15, and you can follow the latest results and schedule of play here.

The fifth ranking event of the season, and the first to be held in China since 2019, sees 64 players battle it out for £700,000 in prize money at the Wuhan Gymnasium.

The lucrative tournament is new addition to the WST calendar in 2023-24 and features a host of the world’s top stars in action.

Players were required to win a qualifying match in Leicester last month in order to secure a place in the main event, with the exception of the top two players in the world rankings, the two highest ranked Chinese players and four Chinese wildcards – whose matches have been held over to be played in Wuhan.

World number one Ronnie O’Sullivan is looking to follow up his Shanghai Masters success last month with a first ranking title of the season.

Fresh from his English Open triumph on Sunday, Judd Trump heads to China in a bid to make it back-to-back ranking titles, while the likes of Mark Selby, Neil Robertson, Mark Allen, John Higgins and home hero Ding Junhui also vie for glory.

Reigning world champion Luca Brecel has withdrawn from the event, alongside Mark Williams, Graeme Dott, and David Gilbert.

All matches up to and including the Quarter-Finals will be contested over the best of nine frames, with Semi-Finals best of 11 and the final best of 19.
