Mark Selby headlines day two of the Wuhan Open Qualifiers as he faces Alexander Ursenbacher at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.

Neil Robertson and Shaun Murphy are among the other star names looking to book their place in the main stages in Wuhan in August.

Selby launches his 2025-26 season on home soil, with the Jester hoping for another campaign back in the winners’ circle.

The four-time World champion secured his first ranking title in 18 months at the British Open last September, while he added further silverware at the Welsh Open and Championship League, as well as reaching the Tour Championship final.

Selby’s season ultimately ended in disappointment as he bowed out in the opening round of the World Championship for the second time in as many years, following a 10-8 defeat by fellow Leicester cueist Ben Woollaston.

The 24-time ranking event winner, who turned 42 on Thursday, takes on Ursenbacher in his first match of the campaign, with the former English Open semi-finalist having recently secured an immediate return to the tour via Q School.

Elsewhere, Robertson and Murphy take on new professionals. The latter’s opponent Michal Szubarczyk becomes the youngest ever professional at the tender age of 14, while Robertson faces 19-year-old WSF World Junior champion Leone Crowley.

Ali Carter – runner-up to Judd Trump in the inaugural Wuhan Open in 2023 – also faces a new professional in Florian Nuessle, though it is not such unfamiliar territory for the Austrian, who has appeared in several WST events as a top-up player.

Zhang Anda is the other top-16 player in action on Monday. The former International Championship winner takes on Steven Hallworth – back on the tour after three years away – while 2023 Wuhan Open semi-finalist Lyu Haotian plays two-time Women’s World champion Bai Yulu.

Jack Lisowski and Stephen Maguire also commence their campaigns, going up against Amir Sarkhosh and Kreishh Gurbaxani respectively.

Play gets under way at 10am BST on Monday with all matches contested over the best of nine frames at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.
