Stuart Bingham headlines the action as qualifying for the 2022 European Masters commences in Cannock on Wednesday.
Less than 24 hours after the conclusion of the German Masters qualifying rounds, 120 players return to the Chase Centre looking to secure their place in the final stages at Furth’s Stadthalle in February.
World number 12 Bingham is the highest-ranked player to take to the table on day one.
The former World champion was runner-up when this event returned to the calendar in 2017, narrowly losing 9-7 to Judd Trump in the final.
Bingham’s quest to go the extra step five years later begins against Scotland’s Fraser Patrick, who secured an immediate return to the tour this season via Q School.
Jack Lisowski is the other top-16 player in action on Wednesday; the world number 15 taking on Germany’s Simon Lichtenberg.
A six-time ranking event finalist, ‘Jackpot’ will be hoping it is not long before he ends his wait to land silverware.
Elsewhere, crowd favourite Jimmy White is aiming to qualify for this event for only the second time in six attempts.
The Whirlwind was a European Open champion back in 1992, and runner-up to Stephen Maguire 12 years later.
Although, opponent Zhou Yuelong boasts an impressive record in this competition.
The world number 17 reached the semi-finals in 2017, and was runner-up to Neil Robertson three years later with the Australian inflicting a 9-0 rout in the showpiece.
Meanwhile, Ken Doherty – winner of this event when it was played as the Malta Cup in 2006 – takes on Jak Jones, with 12-time Ladies World champion Reanne Evans going up against Louis Heathcote.
Play gets underway at 10am BST on Wednesday with all matches contested over the best of nine frames at the Chase Centre in Cannock.
