Reigning champion Judd Trump resumes his quest for a third successive German Masters triumph against Anthony Hamilton in Cannock on Thursday.

Champion in 2020 and 2021, the Ace is looking to complete a hat-trick of titles at the Tempodrom in Berlin next February.

Trump claimed his 15th successive victory in the event after defeating Chang Bingyu in the opening qualifying round at the Chase Centre on Wednesday.

Less than 24 hours later, the world number two must now overcome Hamilton to secure a return to the German capital in just under three months’ time.

Of course, the Sheriff holds fond memories of this competition, having landed the only ranking title of his career with victory over Ali Carter in the 2017 final.

But the 50-year-old knows he must produce something special to have any chance of returning to the scene of his greatest triumph.

Elsewhere, 2020 runner-up Neil Robertson starts his mission to go the extra step against fellow left-hander Fraser Patrick, while former World champion Stuart Bingham faces a tricky test in Luca Brecel, who reached the 2016 final in Berlin.

Former Crucible king Graeme Dott boasts an impressive history in this event; a runner-up in 2018, he has also reached a further three semi-finals. The Pocket Dynamo will be hoping for more of the same as he faces Si Jiahui.

Meanwhile, two-time German Masters semi-finalist Barry Hawkins, who was one frame away from reaching last year’s showpiece, takes on Michael Georgiou, as Welsh Open champion Jordan Brown locks horns with Michael White.

And after reaching the last four of the Northern Ireland Open at the weekend, Ricky Walden will be looking to continue his good form against Welsh rising star Jackson Page.

Play begins at 10am BST on Wednesday with all matches contested over the best of nine frames at the Chase Centre in Cannock.
