The road to The Crucible begins with the World Snooker Championship qualifiers, and you can follow the latest results and fixtures here.

Sixteen coveted places are up for grabs in the £2.4 million main event alongside the top 16 players from the world rankings.

Qualifying will take place from April 5-14 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, a stone’s throw from The Crucible, with players required to win a selected number of matches according to their ranking position in order to secure their qualification.

The field is comprised of 112 tour players and 16 amateurs who have achieved success through the WPBSA qualifying criteria.

Seven-time World Champion Stephen Hendry is featuring in qualifying action for the first time since 2012, having been awarded a wildcard to compete on the tour for the next two seasons.

Hendry will rekindle an era-defining rivalry with Jimmy White in his opening match, with the pair having contested four world finals, all of which won by the Scot.

Other players starting out in Round One include 1997 World Champion Ken Doherty, 12-time women’s World Champion Reanne Evans, two-time ranking event winner Michael White and giant-killer James Cahill.

Three-time Crucible semi-finalist Alan McManus, Dominic Dale, Jamie Jones and Mark King are among the notable cueists entering at the Second Round stage.

Zhou Yuelong is the highest ranked player in qualifying action and will start out in Round Three alongside the likes of 2015 World Champion Stuart Bingham, 2006 champion Graeme Dott and two-time world finalist Ali Carter.

A condensed format once again means that matches from Rounds One to Three are to be contested over the best of 11 frames in a single session.

Fourth Round ties are to be contested over the best of 19 frames, split across two sessions, with the first session comprised of a maximum of nine frames.
