Judd Trump renews his rivalry with John Higgins in a blockbuster Masters semi-final showdown at Alexandra Palace on Saturday.
Semi-Final Saturday commences with a mouth-watering battle of the two-time champions, with both eyeing the first spot in this year’s final.
Trump has dominated the recent head-to-head record having won 14 of their last 15 meetings (excluding the Championship League), including each of the last six in semi-finals.
The Ace, who lifted the Paul Hunter trophy in 2019 and 2023, is gearing up for his eighth Masters semi-final, following a pair of 6-2 victories over Ding Junhui and Mark Allen.
Trump reeled off each of the last four frames against the latter, with a 50 counter clearance at 2-2 to steal the fifth on the black proving decisive.
The world number one is now just two wins away from becoming the seventh three-time Masters champion, and ending his 13-month silverware drought.
Meanwhile, this will be Higgins’ 10th semi-final at snooker’s most prestigious invitational event, 31 years after his first.
After beating Barry Hawkins 6-2 in the opening round, the Wizard delighted the Alexandra Palace crowd with a spirited fightback from 5-3 down against World champion Zhao Xintong, who he beat 6-5 on the final black.
At 50 years old, Higgins is the oldest semi-finalist at the Masters since Eddie Charlton in 1983.
He is now looking to reach a sixth final in the event, and remain on course to land his first Triple Crown since the 2011 World Championship, when he beat Trump 18-15 in a thrilling final.
A showdown with either two-time runner-up Kyren Wilson or debutant Wu Yize awaits the winner in Sunday’s showpiece.
The gets under way from 1pm GMT on Saturday and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at Alexandra Palace.
