Shanghai Masters 2026 | Day Two Preview and Order of Play
Ronnie O’Sullivan and Kyren Wilson go head to head in a blockbuster second-round clash at the Shanghai Masters on Tuesday.
The pick of the matches on day two at Luwan Indoor Stadium sees the five-time winner take on the reigning champion for a place in the quarter-finals.
They also met at this event 12 months ago, with Wilson prevailing 5-3 in their quarter-final showdown on the way to capturing his second Shanghai crown.
That was the Warrior’s sixth straight victory against O’Sullivan (including the Championship League), though the Rocket stopped the rot by recovering from 5-3 down to scrape through 6-5 at the same stage of last season’s Saudi Arabia Masters.
The seven-time World champion made a decent enough start to the week, hitting breaks of 75, 73, 71 and 55 on the way to a commanding 6-1 win over 18-year-old wildcard Liu Linhao.
However, he will face a different proposition in Wilson who, despite triumphing here and at the Masters, is desperate to put an otherwise disappointing 2025-26 campaign behind him.
Elsewhere, 2024 champion Judd Trump enters the fray against fellow left-hander Barry Hawkins, who battled past Lei Peifan 6-4 in the opening round.
Similar to the previous match, the Hawk ended a six-game losing streak in his most recent showdown with Trump at the 2025 Tour Championship.
Chris Wakelin and Xiao Guodong endured contrasting fortunes against wildcards in round one. Wakelin wasted little time in whitewashing Hewen Tang, while Xiao recovered from 5-2 down to scrape past Xu Jiarui.
Their rewards are meetings with former World champions in three-time Crucible king Mark Williams and 2010 victor Neil Robertson respectively.
The first round draws to a close with an all-Chinese clash between Si Jiahui and Pang Junxu, with Jack Lisowski – a late replacement for Mark Allen – taking on Zhang Anda.
Play breaks off at 7am BST (2pm local time) on Tuesday with all matches contested over the best of 11 frames at Luwan Indoor Stadium.
