Mark Selby and Jack Lisowski go head to head at the Marshall Arena on Thursday for a place in the British Open quarter-finals.

The players ranked third and 12th in the world respectively collide in one of the standout ties of the fourth round, and both will sense an opportunity to go all the way with the big names continuing to fall in Milton Keynes.

Indeed, 10 of the top 16 players have already been eliminated – while Neil Robertson did not enter the tournament – with reigning UK Championship and German Masters winner Zhao Xintong the latest high-profile casualty following his 4-1 defeat by Noppon Saengkham.

Selby appears to be enjoying a timely return to form this week, having reached the World Mixed Doubles final alongside Rebecca Kenna at the weekend.

The four-time World champion comfortably put Ricky Walden and Mark Joyce to the sword 4-1, before overcoming Cao Yupeng 4-2 in round three on Wednesday.

The Jester is now seeking only his second ranking quarter-final appearance since capturing that fourth Crucible crown in May 2021 – and the 84th of his career.

Selby overcame Lisowski 9-6 when they met in the 2019 Scottish Open showpiece, though Jackpot avenged that defeat by prevailing 6-4 in the 2020 World Grand Prix semi-finals.

The world number 12, who appears to be reaping the benefits of working alongside former Crucible king Peter Ebdon, is gearing up for his 40th appearance in the last 16 of a ranking event.

A pair of 4-1 victories over Dominic Dale and Lu Ning have sandwiched a 4-2 triumph over Mitchell Mann, and the six-time ranking finalist will be hoping this is the week he finally gets his hands on silverware.

The match gets underway at 7pm BST on Thursday, and will be contested over the best of seven frames at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.
