Mark Selby hits magical maximum break at the British Open
Mark Selby compiled the fourth 147 break of his career against Jack Lisowski in their British Open fourth-round clash on Thursday.
The Jester produced a marvellous maximum – his first in almost four years – during the opening frame of the contest at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.
The chance appeared to have vanished for Selby when he ran out of position on the 12th red, but a stunning treble into the left centre pocket kept him on course for the 179th maximum break in tournament play.
The four-time World champion became the 12th player to compile four of more 147s, having also achieved snooker’s holy grail at the 2009 Jiangsu Classic, 2013 UK Championship and 2018 Champion of Champions.
Should it remain unequalled, Selby’s efforts will earn him the tournament’s high break prize of £5,000.
