Judd Trump locks horns with Mark Allen in what promises to be a mouth-watering fourth-round clash at the British Open on Thursday.
Two of the best left-handers in the game go head to head for the right to play Mark Selby in the quarter-finals at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.
Trump has not looked back since losing the opening frame of his first-round match against Si Jiahui at the start of the week.
Indeed, last season’s Champion of Champions and Turkish Masters winner has subsequently reeled off 12 successive frames without reply; also putting Dean Young and Xu Si to the sword along the way.
The Ace prevailed 6-5 in a thrilling encounter with Allen at the Masters in January, though the Pistol does shade the overall head-to-head record between the players with 15 wins to Trump’s 13.
Allen is certainly approaching this campaign with a fresh outlook and in a purposeful manner, having lost four stone during the off-season.
The former Masters and Champion of Champions winner comfortably overcame Stuart Carrington 4-0 in the opening round, before seeing off Li Hang 4-1.
He then demonstrated control and coolness under pressure in round three to inflict a 4-2 defeat on 2021 British Open finalist Gary Wilson, who had applied the pressure having recovered from 3-0 down.
Maximum man Selby awaits the winner of this match in what promises to be a thrilling quarter-final encounter.
The match gets underway at approximately 9pm BST on Thursday, and will be contested over the best of seven frames at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.
