Barry Hawkins and Yuan Sijun go head to head on Saturday for the right to play Kyren Wilson in the 2025 German Masters final.

The reigning World champion awaits the winner in Sunday’s showpiece at the Tempodrom in Berlin, following a 6-2 victory over Xiao Guodong earlier today.

Hawkins is appearing in his third German Masters semi-final, four years after his most recent in Milton Keynes, when he surrendered a 5-1 lead to lose 6-5 to eventual champion Judd Trump.

However, the Hawk’s previous venture to this stage at the Tempodrom was in 2013 – the year he reached the Crucible final – and he will hope that serves as a positive omen this time around.

Hawkins began the week by beating Alfie Burden 5-4 and Ben Woollaston 5-3, before receiving a bye into the quarter-finals following Ricky Walden’s withdrawal on medical grounds.

The world number 12 was then in fine form against Wu Yize – the runner-up at this season’s English and Scottish Open – hitting breaks of 138, 89, 73 and 60 on the way to a 5-3 victory.

As Hawkins appears in his 33rd career ranking semi-final, this is only Yuan’s second such performance – six years after reaching this stage at the Gibraltar Open.

And it is safe to say he has certainly earned the right, having come through deciding frames against recently crowned Masters champion Shaun Murphy and Triple Crown winner Neil Robertson.

That came after the world number 39 beat Bai Yulu during qualifying and, after last-64 opponent Hossein Vafaei’s withdrawal, hitting three centuries during a 5-2 victory over Ross Muir.

Yuan arrived in the German capital having not been past the last 32 of any event this season, but the 24-year-old is now just two wins away from lifting the first silverware of his career.

The match breaks off at 7pm GMT on Saturday and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at the Tempodrom in Berlin.
