Neil Robertson goes head to head with Shaun Murphy on Saturday for a place in this year’s German Masters final.
Two Triple Crown winners collide in a mouth-watering semi-final at the Tempodrom in Berlin, where both players are former finalists aiming to go the extra step.
This is their third meeting at the German Masters with Robertson prevailing in both previous encounters, including a 6-1 rout at this stage in 2020.
In fact, the Australian has won five of their six previous showdowns in semi-finals, ahead of his 56th appearance in the last four of a ranking event – one fewer than Murphy.
Robertson, who received a walkover in the first round after Chang Bingyu’s withdrawal, has hit five centuries in his three matches, including three during a 5-2 win over Pang Junxu.
The 2020 German Masters runner-up has also defeated Ishpreet Singh Chadha and Jimmy Robertson for the loss of a single frame, and will hope to continue in that vein in the semi-finals.
Although, it will not be easy against 2015 finalist Murphy, who has also compiled five tons in the German capital this week.
The Magician is appearing in his fifth German Masters semi-final, but targeting just a second win at this stage of the tournament.
Murphy is definitely in the form to achieve it, though, having dropped just four frames in as many matches. After beating Zak Surety and Julien Leclercq, he whitewashed Mark Allen 5-0 before dethroning reigning champion Kyren Wilson with a 5-1 rout.
A multiple German Masters champion awaits the winner in Sunday’s final, whether it be three-time victor Judd Trump or two-time titlist Ali Carter.
The match breaks off at 1pm GMT on Saturday and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at the Tempodrom in Berlin.
