Ronnie O’Sullivan v Si Jiahui live stream | Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters preview
Ronnie O’Sullivan faces a showdown with Si Jiahui in the quarter-finals of the Saudi Arabia Masters on Thursday.
Only the second head-to-head meeting between the two generational talents sees them vie for a place in the Last Four of the joint most lucrative tournament on the calendar.
O’Sullivan is looking to maintain his unbeaten record in Riyadh, having won the inaugural World Masters of Snooker back in March, before thrashing Lei Peifan 5-1 and recovering from 3-0 down to edge past Zhang Anda in an eleventh frame decider on Wednesday.
The Rocket came out on top in the historic invitational here earlier this year, pocketing an eye-watering £250,000 by winning just 13 frames across three matches.
He returns to Riyadh eyeing a tilt at the £500,000 top prize in the first ranking tournament to be held in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a prize fund equalling that of the World Championship.
O’Sullivan is seeded number five in the draw and is bidding for his first silverware of the season, having spent much of the early part of the campaign in Asia.
The seven-time World Champion saw his Shanghai Masters unbeaten run brought to an end by Judd Trump in the Semi-Finals and was also a beaten semi-finalist at the Xi’an Grand Prix little over a week ago.
Si, meanwhile, is appearing in his fifth ranking event quarter-final – his first of the season following wins over Jimmy White, Graeme Dott, Tom Ford and Pang Junxu.
The 22-year-old announced himself as arguably China’s most exciting young talent with a sensational run to the semi-finals of the 2023 World Championship and went on to finish runner-up in this year’s German Masters.
His only previous meeting with O’Sullivan came in the Last 32 of the 2023 English Open, which The Rocket won 4-2.
Their latest contest gets under way from 6pm BST (8pm local time) and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at the Green Halls.
Either three-time World Champion Mark Williams or former European Masters champion Jimmy Robertson will await the winner in the Semi-Finals on Friday.
