Lei was the last man standing in Edinburgh in 2024

The final silverware of 2025 will be won at the Scottish Open this week, and you can follow the latest results and schedule of play here.

Sixty-four of the world’s best players travel to the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh for the third event in this season’s Home Nations Series, which takes place from December 15-21.

All players ranked 33rd or lower were required to win between one and two qualifying-round matches in Wigan in October, with ties involving the top 32 seeds held over to the main venue.

Lei Peifan is the defending champion after beating Wu Yize 9-5 in last year’s final to complete a fairytale triumph.

The Chinese, who was ranked 84th in the world at the time of his triumph, is joined in this year’s tournament by two-time champion Mark Selby and 2018 winner Mark Allen.

John Higgins, a two-time finalist during the Home Nations era, will be flying the flag for Scotland, while reigning World champion Zhao Xintong and world number two Kyren Wilson are joined by other former Crucible kings in Shaun Murphy and Stuart Bingham.

The likes of Judd Trump and Ronnie O’Sullivan opted not to enter the event, while Neil Robertson and Mark Williams were among the late withdrawals.

All matches up to and including the Last 16 are to be contested over the best of seven frames, with Quarter-Finals best of nine, Semi-Finals best of 11 and the final best of 17.
