World Grand Prix Snooker 2025 | Day Three Preview and Order of Play
Kyren Wilson and John Higgins headline Thursday’s action when they face off in a blockbuster second-round clash at the World Grand Prix.
Round two takes centre stage at Kai Tak Arena in Kowloon City, where the 16 remaining players will be looking to book their places in the quarter-finals.
The standout tie of the day pits reigning World champion Wilson against four-time Crucible king Higgins.
Both players came through deciding frames in the opening round against Matthew Selt and Ali Carter respectively, and they will expect another closely fought battle here.
Interestingly, Higgins – the winner of last week’s World Open – has prevailed in seven of the 10 previous meetings between the players in ranking tournaments.
Although, the Warrior certainly has the greater momentum, having already triumphed at the Xi’an Grand Prix, Northern Ireland Open and German Masters this season.
Another eye-catching showdown sees two former World Grand Prix champions go head to head in 2016 winner Shaun Murphy and 2017 victor Barry Hawkins.
The Magician is aiming to add to his Masters triumph at the start of the year, though he was beaten by the Hawk when the pair last met in this season’s UK Championship quarter-finals.
Elsewhere, British and Welsh Open champion Mark Selby looks to continue his impressive campaign back in the winners’ circle.
Although, the Jester faces a potential banana skin in Jimmy Robertson, who recovered from 2-0 down to beat Mark Allen 4-2 on Wednesday.
Neil Robertson, who won this tournament in 2020, continues his quest for a second title against David Gilbert, while 2016 runner-up Stuart Bingham takes on Wu Yize – a beaten finalist at this season’s English and Scottish Open.
Hossein Vafaei and Xu Si face off for the right to play world number one and three-time World Grand Prix champion Judd Trump, who received a bye into the quarter-finals following Jack Lisowski’s withdrawal from the event for personal reasons.
The other tie is an all-Chinese clash between Wuhan Open champion Xiao Guodong and Scottish Open winner Lei Peifan.
Play gets under way at 5am GMT on Thursday with all matches contested over the best of seven frames at Kai Tak Arena in Kowloon City, Hong Kong.
