Zhao Xintong and Zhang Anda are aiming to become the first Chinese winner of the World Grand Prix when they lock horns in the 2026 final.
Both players will look to end a fruitful week at the Kai Tak Arena in Hong Kong – during which they secured their Players Championship places – by landing the top prize of £180,000.
The compatriots are each appearing in the fourth ranking final of their careers, with Zhao bidding to maintain his perfect record in such matches.
The reigning Crucible king has the opportunity to land his first ranking silverware as World champion, having captured the invitational Riyadh Season Championship crown in November.
After beating John Higgins 5-3 in round one – avenging his Masters quarter-final defeat – it looked like Zhao was heading for a second-round exit at 4-1 down against Mark Selby.
However, the Cyclone recovered to prevail in a deciding frame, while he was also a 5-4 winner against Chris Wakelin in the quarter-finals, despite having led 4-1.
Zhao then beat Xiao 6-3 in the semi-finals, and is now eyeing his first trophy on Asian soil.
Though he won their Championship League clash last month, Zhang has prevailed in both ranking meetings between the players, including a 6-2 victory at this season’s UK Championship.
The Mighty Mouse is looking to add to his sole ranking triumph at the 2023 International Championship, which propelled him into the world’s top 16.
Zhang recently dropped out of the elite bracket, but has the opportunity to return there by going one better than his performances at the 2023 English Open and 2024 Players Championship.
He is certainly in the form do so, having already defeated Mark Williams, Barry Hawkins and Wu Yize this week, before edging out Zhou Yuelong on the black in the semi-finals.
A Chinese winner will be crowned in Hong Kong on Sunday, but will it be the reigning World champion, or the resurgent former International Championship victor?
The final breaks off at 5am GMT (1pm local time) with the opening eight frames, before playing to a finish from 11am at the Kai Tak Arena in Kowloon City.
