Kyren Wilson goes head to head with Neil Robertson in a mouth-watering quarter-final clash at the Riyadh Season Snooker Championship.

The last-eight action in Boulevard City begins on Thursday with a tasty battle between the players ranked second and third in the world respectively.

A good omen for both players is the fact whoever has prevailed from three of their last five meetings has gone on to win the respective tournament.

Wilson most recently achieved this by beating Robertson in the semi-finals on his way to Players Championship glory in March.

The Warrior made a strong start to the season by triumphing at the Shanghai Masters, though personal issues away from the table prevented him from building on that early momentum.

Wilson was a quarter-finalist at the Saudi Arabia Masters in August, but has returned to the Kingdom off the back of early exits at the Wuhan Open, English Open, British Open and International Championship.

Meanwhile, Robertson’s most recent visit to the Kingdom proved an incredibly lucrative one at the Saudi Arabia Masters, where he defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan in a thrilling final to land the bumper top prize of £500,000.

Like Wilson, the Thunder struggled to really kick on from his success, notably missing the Northern Ireland Open due to a respiratory virus.

A run to the last 16 at the International Championship represents his best performance at a ranking event since Jeddah, though he was a semi-finalist at last week’s Champion of Champions.

It promises to be an intriguing battle between two of the top three players in the world, with a semi-final meeting with either defending champion Mark Allen or four-time Crucible king John Higgins on offer to the winner.

The match breaks off at 2pm GMT (5pm local time) on Friday and will be contested over the best of seven frames at the Global Theatre in Boulevard City, Riyadh.
