Jimmy White v Jimmy Robertson live stream | Scottish Open 2023 preview
Jimmy White looks to record only his second victory of the season when he faces Jimmy Robertson in the Scottish Open second round on Tuesday.
The Whirlwind enjoyed a resurgence during the 2022-23 campaign, winning four matches to qualify for the final stages of the UK Championship, while reaching the last 16 at the German Masters and WST Classic.
However, the 61-year-old has failed to build on that momentum this term. Indeed, he has won just one of the 13 matches he has played across all competitions.
Although, that sole victory did come in the qualifying round for this event, as he recovered from 3-1 down to edge out Duane Jones in a deciding frame and book his place at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh.
White has never been Robertson in the five previous meetings between the players – albeit one of those came in the Championship League and another in the Shoot Out.
The Sussex cueist is looking to kickstart his season with a strong run in the final event of the calendar year, with runs to the last 16 of the European Masters and Shoot Out representing his best performances so far.
In fact, he has not progressed beyond the last 16 of any ranking event since reaching the 2022 Players Championship semi-finals.
Nevertheless, Robertson will be a heavy favourite to advance and maintain his unblemished record against namesake White.
The winner of this match will play either Jamie Jones or Dominic Dale in the last 32 of the Scottish Open.
Play gets under way at around 8pm GMT and will be contested over the best of seven frames at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh.
